Horse Care
- ALL horses on the property must have regular trims, worming and dental care
- Trims generally to be no longer than 6 weeks apart
- All horses to be wormed at the same time with the same type of wormer, in April and October (or as required based on faecal egg counts).
- Annual dentistry arranged - work done by HorseMed vet (Echunga) or a qualified equine dentist of horse owner's choice
- Dentistry may be needed more frequently depending on age of horse and vet/dentist recommendation
- Rainwater used in troughs
- High visibility electric fencing
- Any unusual behaviours noted (e.g. lying down in afternoon)
- Rugging as required (recommended for aged horses and poor keepers)
- Barefoot trimming available (over a decade of experience) or own farrier welcome
- Owners' preferred vet to be called
- Horses needing supplementary feeding are separated from main group when fed
- Daily ration of lucerne for each horse fed throughout summer and autumn months; round bales of cereal hay through winter and meadow hay throughout the year
- Round bales are placed on a pallet with hay ring and slow feeder net.
- Hay available at all times
- Member of Facebook groups Aussie Horse Nutrition and Health, Equestrian Social Science and many other equine health and wellbeing-related groups
